The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has invited us to apply for a great Board Leadership Development program in the fall, to be led by BoardSource's senior governance associate, Chuck Loring. Loring is known as a leading national expert on nonprofit board issues. BoardSource has been my go-to source for governance, management and strategic planning guidance. The program consists of 2 evening workshops (5 p - 8:30 p on Thursday 10/3 and Monday 10/21) and up to 40 hours of follow up consulting time with an HFPG-provided consultant. The leadership development program will focus on defining roles and responsibilities of boards and EDs, providing adequate resources, financial oversight and engagement in the mission. This is a competitive application process. Only 15 organizations will be selected to participate. The ED and board president or president elect must commit to attend, and so must at least two other board members. In response to HFPG's preliminary request, I have already indicated my enthusiasm for participating and expectation that we will submit an application. What a great opportunity! Please email me if you are interested in attending. ![]()
