BTW Pledge Update: More Small Towns and Small Businesses Taking Pledge

5/9/2014

Picture
With Bike to Work Day 2014 arriving in a week's time, we see pledge momentum picking up - especially with small towns and small businesses all across the state. The top three in each group have kept their position, but not necessarily the momentum that got them there:

  • Small businesses like creative agency The Bananaland in Bridgeport and Tony's Bikes in Milford have shown up in the fluid list this week. As it stands, Bike Walk Connecticut will easily surpass last year's tally of 176 employers represented.
  • The Department of Motor Vehicles may lose the motor as a total of five  employees - and counting - from the DMV have pledged to ride to work on May 16th, easily putting the DMV in the top five in our State Government list.
  • Towns including Manchester, Middletown, East Hartford and Bloomfield have stayed in the top ten over the second half of this week without gaining new pledges. Meanwhile, other cities and towns are catching up. New Canaan may be a late pledger as no one is yet represented, and we expect workers from Darien and Greenwich to take the Bike to Work Day pledge once they remember how bad Rt. 1 is during rush hour this evening.
