TODAY!  Don't miss the New Haven Grand Prix and Community Celebration, presented by The Connecticut Cycling Advancement Program (CCAP) and the City of New Haven, on Friday, September 18, 2015. 

This multi-faceted event highlights New Haven as a cycling and pedestrian-friendly city, amazing food and culture, and a multitude of family-focused activities. The festival will be from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. along with this dynamic race entertainment for all to enjoy.  NEWHAVENGP.com 

Three twilight races will be held around the Upper Green and Yale University’s Old Campus.  Cyclists can register at ctcyclingadvancement.org/new-haven-grand-prix

2015 NEW HAVEN GRAND PRIX RACE SCHEDULE
6:00 p.m. - Youth Races  ||  7:00 p.m. - Women’s Pro Cat  ||  8:30 p.m. - Men’s Pro Cat
All race proceeds help create a community where youth can learn and thrive through the sport of cycling in and out of schools across the state, including New Haven’s own youth cycling programs.
 
STREET FESTIVAL
Energized by the thrilling cycling event, the city’s restaurants, merchants and wide-ranging enthusiasts have joined together to create a festive atmosphere throughout the downtown area. All residents and visitors are invited to participate in the fun. Highlights include The Taste of New Haven Pizza Feast, Sierra Nevada Beer Gardens, The Crossroads Festival with live entertainment, Kids Zone and The Urban Mountain Bike Race.
 
T H E  T A S T E  O F  N E W   H A V E N ' S  A P I Z Z A  F E A S T
Some of Greater New Haven’s best mobile pizza makers and dessert trucks will gather on College Street in front of Yale’s Old Campus to tempt your palate. Entry fees for the APizza Feast are $5 in advance and $10 onsite for entry. Tickets can be purchased in advance at tasteofnewhaven.com/apizza-feast. On site, guests can purchase both delicious pizza and desserts from local vendors.

A percentage of proceeds goes to Connecticut Cycling Advancement Programs to educate children in the sport of cycling.

For guests 21 and over (ID required), a Sierra Nevada sponsored Beer Garden offers taps from 12 different breweries, including many popular local breweries.

T H E   C R O S S R O A D S   F E S T I V A L
Downtown restaurants expand their footprint with satellite vending and sidewalk seating, as well as business community and merchant coordinated events including N-64 head-to-head Mario Cart Competition, a freestyle bicycle stunt show, Shift Cycling's pros vs. average joes bicycle races, a second Sierra Nevada sponsored Beer Garden, and more. The Crossroads Festival is presented by the Town Green Special Services District.

LIVE MUSIC ON COLLEGE STREET
Musical acts on the College Street Stage, located in front of The Shubert Theatre and College Street Music Hall include:  4:00 p.m. – Wise Old Moon || 5:00 p.m. – Eddie Seville & Steel Rodeo  ||  6:15 p.m. – Christine Ohlman & Rebel Montez
 
K I D S  Z O N E
Besides incredible music and entertainment, families will enjoy a Kids Obstacle Course sponsored by Trailblazer, a 25-foot climbing wall, a cornhole toss, a Sno-Cat and some additional surprises!
 
T H E  U R B A N  M O U N T A I N  B I K E  R A C E
The CCAP, along with Powder Ridge Mountain Park & Resort, will transport short-course mountain bike racing from Middlefield to the streets of New Haven. Registration required to participate. USAC licensed racers: $25, Non-USAC Licensed racers: $35. Register at ctcyclingadvancement.org/ccap-urban-mountain-bike

V O L U N T E E R S
Over 250 volunteers are needed to help make this event a raging success! All volunteers will share in the pride that comes from helping bring pro-level racing and a city-wide street festival to New Haven. Want to be a part of action? Volunteer at volunteersignup.org/HLDLT
 
TRAFFIC AND PARKING DETAILS
In order to put on this great event, some street closures are required. College Street will be closed to traffic at noon, and at 4:00 p.m. Temple St., Chapel St., High St., and half of Elm St. will be closed until 11:00 p.m.  Two lanes of southbound traffic will remain open on Elm St. as well as a left turn on the corner of Chapel onto Temple St. for vehicle traffic. The free Downtown New Haven Shuttle from Union Station will be running throughout the event. For parking options visit parknewhaven.com.
