I would like to see some discussion and action on the issue of protecting pedestrians from bicyclists. I have walked regularly from the train station, either Union or State Street in New Haven to the Yale School of Medicine for over 20 years. My observation of bicyclists is that they rarely follow the rules of the road. They ride on the sidewalk (including bicycle police), they ignore stop signs and red lights, and they ride on the left side of the road. I have had many close calls where a bicyclist nearly hit me. They are highly unpredictable in their actions. Comments are closed.
