The Village Ride is Looking for an Event Manager

Our friends at The Village for Families and Children are looking for an event manager for The Village Ride, now in its third year.  Proceeds from the ride benefit the programs of The Village for Families & Children, Inc.  This is a six month position, from January - June, 2014.
Summary:  The Event Manager is responsible the successful execution of The Village Ride event.  Reports to Senior Development Director.

Responsibilities
  • Successfully identify and recruit volunteers to lead the event committee.
  • Identify, cultivate and solicit new donors to support the event, including corporate sponsorships.
  • Successfully manage The Village Ride to meet our annual goal.
  • Serve as Village liaison to cycling and fitness groups in the Community
  • Plan, organize and execute the volunteer recruitment and cultivation events.
  • In collaboration with the Development Committee, the Event Manager will be responsible for successfully identifying, soliciting and securing funding to underwrite The Village Ride
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or management.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Minimum 5 years of Fund Development and Event experience.
  • Basic computer skills, Raiser’s Edge and Kintera experience necessary.  Proficient with word processing and spreadsheet applications.  Possess solid general computer skills, including ability to work in a Windows XP environment. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and organized work habits.
  • Willingness to work nights and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work in a team environment and with diverse populations.
  • Must have the physical ability to perform the essential functions of the position, such as driving an automobile, able to lift packages weighing up to 25 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodation.
Compensation is based on experience.
