Countdown to Bike to Work Day 2014

4/10/2014

It's Easier Than You Think!
National Bike to Work Day is Friday, May 16, and Connecticut is in on the action!

It doesn't take much to become a bike commuter.  All you need is a bike, a little planning, and a little advice from those who bike to work regularly. Cycling to work will save you money on gas, reduce wear and tear on your car, avoid frustration and wasted time from sitting in traffic,  and it will make you a whole lot healthier. (Plus, people will think you're just plain cool!)

Last year 687 people pledge to bike to work on Bike to Work Day  Bike to Work Day celebrations were held at 25 locations across the state -- up from 14 in 2012. Let's top all those numbers in 2014, shall we?

Bike Walk CT will host its traditional Bike to Work Day celebration at the Old State House - join us if you can! And the Bike to Work Challenge is back for state agencies.
Pledge to Bike to Work here.  Hosting a Bike to Work celebration at your workplace?  Register your event here.

Read more about Bike to Work 2013:

  • Total Miles Ridden One Way, by all pledgers:  4,949.  That's a whole lot of savings on gas and emissions!
  • Longest Commute Award: Chris Adams, 65 miles one way from Old Saybrook to Hartford!
