The Tour on Sunday, September 30 was a great success thank to all our riders and sponsors!

Bike Walk Connecticut reunited with the Bicycle Friendly Community of New Britain and Bike New Britain for the 2018 ​Discover Connecticut Bicycle Tour.

Enjoy the urban and rural scenery of the Hardware City, including historic New Britain neighborhoods like Little Poland, the stunning residential architecture around Walnut Hill Park and of course, the acclaimed New Britain Museum of American Art.

Depending on the 10, 25 or 50 mile tour route you select, you'll experience four differenct bikeways (CT Fastrak, Hanover Pond Trail, Quinnipiac River Gorge & the Farmington Canal); and you'll visit other parks like Batterson Park, Willow Brook Park, Shuttle Meadow, Wassel, Kenmere & Hallmare Reservoirs, Hubbard Park & Merimere Reservoir, Hanover Pond and Quinnipiac River Gorge.

This ride starts and ends in Walnut Hill Park at the New Britain Museum of American Art and includes a brunch and live music after the ride.

About the Discover Connecticut Tour Series
Bike Walk Connecticut's Discover Connecticut Bicycle Tours are held in various cities and towns in Connecticut and showcase the best of our state, including beautiful parks, diverse neighborhoods, local businesses and cultural, architectural and scenic highlights.  

Ride proceeds will help fund our advocacy and education work to make Connecticut a better place to bike and walk, including: 
  • Advocating for pro-cyclist and pro-pedestrian laws, policies and infrastructure; 
  • Promoting bike commuting and the national Bike to Work campaign. 
  • Educating professionals on the NACTO bikeway design guidelines;
  • Educating the public about Connecticut’s Complete Streets Law and how to Share the Road; 
  • Educating, inspiring, and connecting members at the Connecticut Bike Walk Summit;
  • Holding bicycle education programs.
