This post is primarily for the Executive Committee, but it will also serve to centralize the workers comp insurance policy info, Insurer: Workers Comp Insurance is provided via Travelers and Tucker Sinatro for the Sinatro Insurance Agency. Payment: In 2012 Kelly set the policy up to be paid by autopay, so the policy is paid for 2013 (Amount is $443). A report is required by Travelers by August 1 2013. The report asks for 941 details, payroll summaries, and state wage reports, so that report is being referred to Ken.
The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has invited us to apply for a great Board Leadership Development program in the fall, to be led by BoardSource's senior governance associate, Chuck Loring. Loring is known as a leading national expert on nonprofit board issues. BoardSource has been my go-to source for governance, management and strategic planning guidance. The program consists of 2 evening workshops (5 p - 8:30 p on Thursday 10/3 and Monday 10/21) and up to 40 hours of follow up consulting time with an HFPG-provided consultant. The leadership development program will focus on defining roles and responsibilities of boards and EDs, providing adequate resources, financial oversight and engagement in the mission. This is a competitive application process. Only 15 organizations will be selected to participate. The ED and board president or president elect must commit to attend, and so must at least two other board members. In response to HFPG's preliminary request, I have already indicated my enthusiasm for participating and expectation that we will submit an application. What a great opportunity! Please email me if you are interested in attending.
Should you need the Bike Walk Connecticut letterhead showing the 2013 board, here's a word template below. Feel free to use this in your committee correspondence as needed, but please note that anything that expresses or suggests a position of the organization needs to be discussed by the board first. Thanks!
